About Squills

Squill is mentioned as a medicinal plant by Theophrastus in 300 B.C.E. & it was used by the Greek physician Epimenides, for which reason squill has also been known as Epimenidea.

Sea squill contains cardiac glycosides which are strongly diuretic and relatively quick-acting[254]. They do not have the same cumulative effect as those present in foxglove (Digitalis spp.)[254].

Crocuses and squills are often planted in the lawn. It is not to be expected that they will last more than two to three years, however, even if care is taken not to cut the tops closely when the lawn is cut.
