This is a beautiful variety of sun rose which has silvery pink flowers that are open-hearted, golden-centred and up to 8cm (3in) wide. This makes a shrub that is wider than it is high.

"Ben" Sun Roses are old cultivars, numbering seventeen in all, created by John Nicoll (d. 1926), about whom little is known except that he was a jute merchant in Monifieth near Dundee, Scotland.
Similar to Sun Roses, this low-growing shrubby evergreen has short, straight flowers instead of long, curved ones. Good for rock gardens or anywhere in full sun. Shelter in cold areas. Little other care is needed except a light shearing after bloom.
