Lycoris (Surprise Lily, Hurricane Lily)
have long been a geophyte of interest, and since our climate is perfect for their growth, we are attempting to assemble a complete collection, and sort out some of the taxonomic misinformation.

Surprise lily thrives in both sandy and clayey soils, with acidic to alkaline reactions.
Light: Full sun to partial shade. Surprise lily flowers best in full sun.
Moisture: Surprise lily does fine with ordinary garden watering.

Resurrection Lily, so named because the plant re-emerges in late Summer after sending up its large clump of strap-like foliage in early Spring, has many other common names, including Magic Lily, Surprise Lily, Hardy Amaryllis, and Naked Lily.
