Plant Type: This is a herbaceous plant, it is a perennial which can reach 150cm in height (60inches).

Swamp Milkweed
One of the most beautiful of native perennials with clusters of upturned pink flowers in June and July. Much underused in average gardens conditions! Attracts butterflies of all kinds. Willow-like leaves are 4-5" long.

Swamp Milkweed strengthens the heart in the same way as digitalis and is a quick and certain diuretic. It is given in dropsy as a diuretic in place of digitalis, also in coughs, colds, rheumatism from cold, threatened inflammation of the lungs.

Description:
Swamp Milkweed is best sited in sunny and permanently wet areas, such as the edge of a pond or in a poorly drained area (where it reaches a height of up to three feet), but it also adapts to drier areas.
