Hyssop-leaved Thoroughwort
Eupatorium hyssopifolium
This is one of around ten species of white-flowered Eupatoriums (thoroughworts, bonesets, and snakeroots) that grow in Connecticut.

Hyssop-leaved Thoroughwort
A dry meadow and sandy field native with white flowers and very fine-textured foliage. Flat topped clusters of white fringed flowers have the overall appearence of clouds- very attractive and often underutilized.

Other similar species are Late-flowering Thoroughwort (Eupatorium serotinum), which has long-stalked lanceolate leaves with 3-5 main veins, and Hyssop-leaf Thoroughwort (E. hyssopifolium), with very narrow leaves in whorls of 3-4.

Six years ago, we began a new border and chose threadleaf blue star as a medium-height ground cover, to be mixed with hyssop-leaved thoroughwort (Eupatorium hyssopifolium), Sedum 'Matrona', and Viburnum nudum 'Winterthur'.
