Tiger Lily (Lilium Tigrinum) - This is one of the commonest kinds, and is too well known to need description. No garden should be without it, for few plants are so attractive or have such stately growth.

Tiger lily (Lilium lancifolium) is regarded as an emerging or potential environmental weed in Victoria. It was first recorded as naturalised in Victoria in 1985, where it was reported to be locally abundant in the Dandenong Ranges.

The Tiger Lily is a popular flowering ornamental introduced from Asia and Europe into the United States in the late nineteenth century.

The tiger lily, L. lancifolium, (L. tigrinum), is the leading exponent of the stem-bulbil method of increase.

"Splendens" Tiger Lily (Lilium lancifolium var splendens, still often listed under its former name L. tigrinum var splendens) has larger flowers, shorter stature, & fewer speckles than most Tiger Lilies.

Description:
Tiger Lily, an old-fashioned species that still remains popular, has stipples on its orange perianth segments and shiny black bulbils in its leaf axils (which can be harvested and sown immediately, germinating the following Spring).
