Tree Peony (Paeonia sp.)
Tree Peony [PEE-oh-nee] plants are, in fact, woody, perennial shrubs. They produce huge, colorful flowers and interesting foliage that dies back in the winter, leaving bare stems until spring.

Tree Peony, Moutan Peony
The so-called Tree Peony is really a deciduous shrub, with flowers up to 1 foot across. Single, semi-double, and double, silky-petaled blooms are white, pink, lavender, purple, yellow, and bicolor.

( Artemis Tree Peony )
'Artemis' is an upright, sparsely branched, deciduous tree peony with red-tinged shoots and dark green red-stalked leaves, blue-green beneath, deeply cut into pointed lobes.
