Tropical Guava, Guajava This American fruit is well known throughout the tropics. Usually, it is a low growing tree 6 to 25 feet high. The smooth, reddish brown bark peels off in large flakes to reveal a smooth grey inner bark.
The fruit (a fleshy berry with many hard seeds) of the common tropical guava (P. guajava) is shaped like an apple or a pear and has white, pink, or red flesh (depending on the variety) with a sweet, musky flavor and, usually, a yellow rind.
