Pseudotsuga menziesii var menziesii, by far the largest pine family tree, grows to 300 feet or taller & can live for a thousand years or longer.

Pseudotsuga is native to the forests of China, Taiwan, Japan, Western North America, and Mexico. They are often used as Christmas trees because they tend not to shed their needles as much as others.

Discussion The plant is not related to true Hemlock (Tsuga spp.), but to Poison Hemlock (Conium maculatum), the plant used to poison Socrates.
