Gourd Varieties

A mild, sweet flavored, bell shaped pepper, which is one of the most common varieties of sweet peppers. Most bell peppers are green at maturity but turn red if not harvested until fully ripe.

Acer b. formosanum, the Taiwan or Formosan Trident. "Mino Yatsubusa" and "Miyasama Kaede Yatsubusa", which exhibit various characteristics of being dwarfed. "Goshika Kaede," a variegated form.

Often, the large-leaf rhododendrons are all grouped together under the heading R. catawbiense for convenience.

Pruning
All varieties benefit from a light pruning in spring or after flowering. Frost damaged shoots should be removed in the spring, when the buds have started to grow. Cut to a bud that is growing further down the stem.

The two varieties of Douglas-fir occur in quite different ecosystems. The Interior variety grows in a variety of habitats including open forests with pinegrass and mosses beneath. On the coast, the forests are much more productive.
