APGAR test
The APGAR test is routinely used one minute and five minutes (and sometimes ten minutes) after birth to assess a newborn baby's health.

Apgar test (AP-gar test) - A test done on your baby right after birth. The test checks five things to make sure your baby is healthy: heart rate, breathing, muscle tone, reflexes and skin color.

Apgar tests will be carried out within the first 24 hours, to make sure your baby is adapting well to life outside the womb and is receiving any medical attention they need.

The APGAR test is used shortly after birth in order to assess a newborn baby's health. It assesses five basic indicators of health: activity level, pulse, grimace (response to stimulation), appearance and respiration.

The Apgar test is a quick way for doctors to figure out if the baby is healthy or needs extra medical care. Apgar tests are usually done twice: one minute after birth and again five minutes after birth.
