What about birthing stools?
A birthing chair or stool helps keep you upright while you're pushing. They've been used for centuries in all parts of the world.
I sit on the birthing stool, begging it to open me, I hurt I ache, I walk, I lie on the bed. they come HARD. I am now screaming during them, they are lasting two minutes. it is now 3 am. midwife comes to check me. yea. you guessed it. my friend 4 cm.
I pushed once laying down but it really was causing extreme pain in my back so the midwife had me move to a birthing stool, which is basically the frame of a stool but with no seat in it.
You may find it comfortable to sit on the toilet, on the thighs of your support person or on a birthing stool/chair. Sitting helps to open the pelvis and is gravity enhancing.
I suppose because I had gravity working with me and I felt supported - a bit like being on a birthing stool - so I refused to get off even though the midwife and my mum kept trying to make me get on to the floor.
