Thrush is a yeast infection caused by the fungus Candida albicans. This fungus commonly lives in the vagina, but doesn't cause problems unless it starts growing too fast.

Yeast Infection - An infection of the vagina that is caused by a type of yeast called Candida albicans. Yeast infections are more common during the second trimester of pregnancy.

Pregnancy makes a woman more likely to get a thrush infection, most commonly caused by the yeast Candida albicans. This yeast is commonly found in the vagina in up to 16% of non-pregnant women and 32% during pregnancy.

Thrush (Candida albicans) is a common yeast infection that occurs in a baby's mouth and diaper area, and on a nursing mother's nipples.

Some diaper rashes are caused by a yeast called Candida Albicans, which often causes problems when a baby already has a diaper rash, is on antibiotics, or has thrush.

Anne Khoury, a certified colon hygienist at Health Connections Center in Philadelphia, says the most frequently occurring species is candida albicans, which can crowd out beneficial bacteria.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (moniliasis) is a yeast or fungal infection of the vulva and vagina. The most common causative organism is Candida albicans. Two other pathogens sometimes involved in this infection are Candida glabrata and Candida tropicalis.

Vaginal infections are fairly common in pregnancy. Thrush is caused by a microscopic fungus or yeast called candida albicans.

During pregnancy, the vagina becomes rich in a form of glucose named 'glycogen', which feeds the growth of the thrush-causing yeast, Candida albicans, making it a perfect environment to create that itchy, uncomfortable condition of thrush.

Sore nipples are usually caused by improper nursing positions and nursing schedules, or incorrect sucking by the baby. They can also be caused by infection, most commonly with the fungus Candida albicans.
