Cleft palate
Cleft palate occurs when the roof of the mouth does not completely close, leaving an opening that can extend into the nasal cavity. The cleft may involve either side of the palate.
Cleft palate is usually noticed at birth during a newborn's first physical examination. The condition often occurs with cleft lip; sometimes problems associated with cleft palate also include deformities of the nasal septum or nasal cavity.
It is my understanding that week 6/7 of gestation is when the cleft lip/cleft palate may occur. What is the likelihood that my baby will develop cleft lip or palate? I know that I only took a small dose just once, but I am freaking out.
