Early labor
During early labor, your cervix will begin to dilate. You'll feel mild to moderately strong contractions during early labor. They may last 30 to 90 seconds and come at regular intervals.

Early Labor (also called the Latent Phase)-This is the first phase of the first stage of labor. During early labor, the cervix is dilated from 0-3 centimeters. You may have mild to moderate contractions every 5-20 minutes.

Early Labor
The birthing process is known as labor and delivery. No one can predict when labor will start. One woman can have all the signs that her body is ready to deliver, yet she may not have the baby for weeks.

During early labor:
Your cervix will start to dilate.
You may feel strong and regular contractions that last 30-60 seconds and come every 5 to 20 minutes.
You may notice a bloody show.

Early labor began at 36 weeks, I went into active labor around 37 weeks, and progressed to 6cm and then regressed back to 4cm probably from stress and her being breech still.

Early labor can be uncomfortable and long, sometimes lasting 2 to 3 days. Walking, watching TV, listening to music, or taking a warm shower may help you manage the discomfort.

Early labor ends when your cervix is about 4 centimeters dilated and your progress starts to speed up. At this point, you enter what's known as the active phase of labor. Your contractions become more frequent, longer, and stronger.

This early labor of stage 1 takes about 8 to 12 hours (average) if the woman has had one or more children (multipara) and about 16 to 18 hours in a woman expecting her first child (primipara).

During early labor, massage can help relax the mother so that she can save her energy for the intense experience ahead. Massage releases oxytocin, the love hormone, which combats adrenaline, the stress hormone.

During early labor (the beginning phase of stage one) you will dilate up to three centimeters. You'll also experience contractions (about 30 to 45 seconds long and coming every five to 20 minutes apart).

You may be in early labor anywhere between two and 20 hours so sit back and stay as comfortable as possible at home with a stop watch in hand. Time your contractions from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next.

Some STIs can cause early labor, a woman's water to break too early, and infection in the uterus after birth. Some STIs also can be passed from a woman to her baby during pregnancy or delivery.
