Egg Retrieval: Minimally invasive procedure to retrieve eggs for IVF using ultrasound guided needle aspiration through the vagina. Typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. Painless because of intravenous and local pain medicines.

Also used in egg retrieval for in vitro fertilization. Laparoscopy: Examination of the pelvic region by using a small telescope called a laparoscope.

One single dose of injectable HCG (brand names: Ovidrel, Profasi, Pregnyl) is given to IVF patients approximately 35 hours prior to egg retrieval. HCG completes the maturation of the eggs and readies them for retrieval.

Egg retrieval - Use of a thin needle to remove an egg from the ovarian follicles for ICSI, IVF or other procedures.
Ejaculate - Fluid expelled by the male containing sperm-filled semen.

Phase 2: The second phase, that of egg retrieval, occurs about 34-36 hours after the hCG injection. Oocyte collection used to be performed in an operating room but today almost all retrievals are done in an outpatient, office-type setting.

The study followed 1,932 women who were undergoing egg retrieval for in vitro fertilization.

The application of light suction to the ovarian follicle during the egg retrieval procedure to remove the eggs for use in in vitro fertilization (IVF). In the male, techniques are used to suck sperm out of the testis or out of a blocked epididymis.
