What is Gestational Diabetes?
Gestational diabetes refers to the condition where non-diabetic women during pregnancy develop high blood sugar. Gestational diabetes affects about two to four percent of pregnant women and their unborn baby.

Following women are at the higher risk of gestational diabetes during pregnancy.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common metabolic derangement that occurs during pregnancy, and is associated with an increased risk of obstetric complications such as preeclampsia, cesarean delivery and fetal macrosomia.
Gestational diabetes is also called gestational diabetes mellitus, or GDM for short. This occurs during pregnancy in some women. Gestational diabetes develops in about seven percent of women who are pregnant.
