Hyperthyroidism
Abnormally increased functioning of the thyroid is usually due to Graves' Disease. In this autoimmune disorder, there is over-stimulation, resulting in hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism can cause nervousness, irritability, increased perspiration, intolerance to heat, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, a fast heartbeat, irregular menstrual periods in girls, and muscle weakness.

Hyperthyroidism is the disorder that occurs if the thyroid gland is too active.
Hypothyroidism is the disorder that occurs if the thyroid gland isn't active enough.
In the U.S.

Hyperthyroidism -- Overproduction of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland. The resulting increased metabolism "burns up" estrogen too rapidly and interferes with ovulation.
Hypoestrogenic -- Having lower than normal levels of estrogen.

I have hyperthyroidism and cant have anything with iodine in it. any suggestions?

Uncontrolled hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) can be dangerous to the mother and cause health problems such as heart failure and poor weight gain in the fetus.

Abnormally high (hyperthyroidism) or low (hypothyroidism) levels of thyroid hormone can cause irregular ovulation thought to be due to the high levels of estrogen associated with these conditions.

Hyperemesis and Hyperthyroid: There may be a link between hyperemesis and hyperthyroidism.. This link is well established but little known (A publication on the subject in Br. J. Obstet.Gynaecol. in ~1984/85.).
