Involution. -The return of the uterus to normal size after the birth of the baby.
Kidneys. -The two organs located deep in the body on either side of the backbone near the waistline in which the urine is formed.

Uterine involution: The postpartum process of the uterus returning to its normal size after the birth of a baby.

Involution: The process of the shrinking of the uterus to its pre-pregnant size. This process takes approximately six weeks.
Lightening: The sensation the mother feels when the baby "drops" down or gradually settles into the pelvis.

Involution happens quickly. There is bleeding, however, and it's bright red for a couple of days ("lochia rubra"); by two weeks the weeping effect doesn't have enough blood mixed with it to keep it red, and a pale discharge is noted ("lochia alba").

Then there is the mother who finally delivers her baby after a 36 hour labor and is so exhausted by the ordeal that she has difficulty bonding with the baby, postpartum involution is delayed and she may suffer from urinary tract infections due to ...
