Kidney stones are one of the most painful disorders, and one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract. It is estimated that about a million people in the United States are treated for kidney stones each year.

 


Kidney stones form when the urine becomes too concentrated with a certain substance, such as calcium or uric acid. The substance forms crystals that come together to create "stones," which are usually just a few millimeters across.

Kidney stones can develope when urine volume is decreased or there is an increased excretion of stone-forming components such as calcium, oxalate, urate, cystine, xanthine, and phosphate.

Kidney stones, an enlarged prostate in men, and structural problems in the urinary tract can contribute to UTIs by limiting the body's ability to eliminate urine completely.

I am a little concerned because i have a history of kidney stones. i managed to catch a kidney stone and tried to figure out what kind it was by comparing it with pictures online. it looks like a kind called struvite.

Excessive levels of calcium in the body, however, can result in spillage into the urine and the increased possibility of kidney stones.

After me being in the hospital a week and a half after she was born for Kidney Stones and her going in the hospital a week and a half after that for an infected umbilical cord, everything is wonderful. She is the joy of my (and my husband's) life.
