Lightening
What will happen when lightening occurs?
During pregnancy, your baby is high up in your uterus. As your pregnancy progresses, the top of the fundus will get higher and higher until you will likely feel your baby in your ribs.
Lightening: This happens when your baby's head "drops" down into your pelvis. Your belly will suddenly look lower and you'll have an easier time catching breath than you did when your baby was crowding your lungs.

Lightening occurs when the baby's head drops into the pelvis. This causes the belly to appear lower. It relaxes the pressure on the lungs, making it easier to breathe and catch your breath.
Lightening During Labor
The process of your baby settling or lowering into your pelvis just before labor is called lightening. Lightening can occur a few weeks or a few hours before labor.
