Oligospermia
Oligospermia refers to very low sperm count. For men with oligospermia and no other fertility factors in either partner, intrauterine insemination (IUI) is frequently a successful solution.

Oligospermia - Low sperm count defined by a concentration of less than 20 million sperm per cc of semen.
Oocyte - An egg.
Ovum - An egg (ova is the plural).

OLIGOSPERMIA - The term for a low sperm count in the ejaculate.
OOCYTE - The biological term for an egg.

Oligospermia:
An abnormally low number of sperm in the seminal fluid.
Oocyte:
The egg cell produced in the ovary, also called ovum, egg or gamete.

Oligospermia: Low sperm count.
Ovarian Failure: The inability of the ovary to respond to any hormone - this us usually due to menopause.

Oligospermia - A deficiency in the quantity of sperm in a typical ejaculation. Oligospermia with less than 1 million sperm per milliliter of semen is considered functional infertility.

Oligo-ovulation - infrequent ovulation, usually less than six per year.

If there are no sperm (azoospermia) or very few (oligospermia) then the couple will usually need to use Artificial Insemination or a technique like ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) to conceive.

Some men experience minor problems with their sperm, such as a low sperm count (called oligospermia) or slow-moving sperm (called asthenospermia).

Testicular Enzyme Defect -- A congenital enzyme defect that prevents the testes from responding to hormonal stimulation. Will result in oligospermia or azozoospermia.

Sperm may be immature, abnormally shaped, or unable to move properly. Or, normal sperm may be produced in abnormally low numbers (oligospermia) or seemingly not at all (azoospermia).
