Pinard stethoscope: An ear trumpet used to listen to the baby's heart beat.
Primip / Primigravida: A woman pregnant for the first time.
They usually use a hand-held Doppler (a Sonicaid) or an ear trumpet (a Pinard stethoscope). If your midwife uses a Sonicaid then you can also hear your baby's heart beating very quickly. It sounds a bit like a racehorse at full gallop.
