Prolapsed cord
Positioning of the umbilical cord ahead of the baby's presenting part during labor and delivery. When this occurs, the baby's body puts pressure on the umbilical cord which is caught between the baby and the mother's birth canal.

Usually the baby's cord is born along with the baby and it continues to supply oxygen to the baby until it is clamped and cut.

When the umbilical cord slips through the cervix or into the vaginal canal. The cord may actually stick out from the vagina, or the mother may just feel that there is something there.

Prolapsed Cord-This occurs when the umbilical cord is in the birth canal ahead of the baby. The cord may become compressed and cut off the baby's oxygen supply. This condition may require an emergency cesarean section.

Prolapsed Cord - An umbilical cord accident in which the umbilical cord falls through the cervix and sometimes into the vagina. A prolapsed cord generally occurs during labor or when the water breaks.
