Retroverted uterus: A retroverted (“tipped') uterus is one that is tilted either up toward the bladder or toward the small of the back.

Retroverted Uterus - A uterus that is tilted, either up toward the bladder or toward the small of the back. Approximately 15%-20% of women have a retroverted uterus.

- In a retroverted uterus also know as tilted uterus or tipped uterus, the uterus is tilted backwards. In normal condition the uterus is tilted forward and tipped towards the bladder. In case of retroverted uterus, the uterus tips towards the spin.

About one in five expectant mothers have what is referred to as a tilted or retroverted uterus in which the fundus is tilted towards the back instead of the front. In most pregnancies the uterus will right itself by the end of the first trimester.

It is located in the pelvis behind your bladder (which is why you can get so much bladder irritation in the early months) and in front of your rectum. It naturally bends forwards over itself (unless you have a retroverted uterus like I do) and when a ...

I didn't get one, but I'm still considering it.... last time I was PG the doc couldn't even find the HB at 12 weeks b/c of my retroverted uterus. I'm afraid to get one before then cause if I can't find the HB I'll just worry myself silly.

But what does it mean if you have an abnormal one? Read Abnormal Smear Test to find out. And if you have a retroverted uterus, don't worry. This is normal and is unlikely to interfere with your ability to get pregnant.
