Sickle crisis: Painful episode caused by sickle-cell disease.

sickle crisis (Also called pain crisis or vasoocclusive crisis.) - in sickle cell diseases, the pain that occurs when the flow of blood is blocked to an area because the sickled cells are stuck in a blood vessel.

Pain crisis, or sickle crisis. This occurs when the flow of blood is blocked to an area because the sickled cells have become stuck in the blood vessel. These are also called vaso-occlusive crises.
