Spinal anesthesia

Pregnancy & Parenting SpinalSpinal bifida

spinal anesthesia - this type of anesthesia involves injecting a single dose of the anesthetic agent directly into the spinal fluid. Spinal anesthesia acts very quickly and causes complete loss of sensation and loss of movement of the lower body.

Spinal anesthesia: Anesthesia given in the spinal canal.
Spontaneous abortion: loss of pregnancy during the first 20 weeks of gestation.
Stasis: Decreased flow.

When spinal anesthesia is done, a very tiny needle is placed through the dura, in the lower back, to inject the spinal medicine. Spinal needles are very small, and the hole made in the dura is also small, thus some, but very little CSF leaks out.

Certain forms of conduction anesthesia, such as spinal anesthesia and some peridural anesthetics, can alter respiration by blocking intercostal nerves. Through other mechanisms (see ACTIONS/CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY) SUBLIMAZE can also alter respiration.

Spinal anesthesia with sequential administration of plain and hyperbaric bupivacaine provides satisfactory analgesia with hemodynamic stability in cesarean section.

Regional anesthesia (also called an epidural or spinal anesthesia) is administered by an anesthesiologist (a doctor who delivers pain medicine) during labor to reduce discomfort.

Regional anesthesia: This is also known as epidural or spinal anesthesia. It is usually administered by an anesthesiologist. Both, epidural and spinal anesthesia, involve the injecting of a drug in the lower back.

Spinal Headache - A headache that is developed as a result of leaking leaking spinal fluid through the puncture site surrounding the spinal cord after spinal anesthesia has been given. The headache generally presents within 12 to 24 hours.

Most cesarean sections are performed with epidural or spinal anesthesia, used to numb sensation in the abdominal area.

Spinal headache occurred in 34 women as a result of accidental dural puncture (0.1% of all epidurals) or spinal anesthesia (2.5% of all spinal blocks).

During cesarean section, the patient is given epidural or spinal anesthesia. When the patient is comfortable, her abdomen is cleaned and draped. A "bikini incision" is made just above the pubic bone and opened to the connective tissue over... More ...

Surgery is usually done while the woman is awake but anesthetized from the chest to the legs by epidural or spinal anesthesia.

Spinal headache: A headache that results when the needle used for a spinal anesthesia or an epidural punctures the covering of the spinal cord, allowing spinal fluid to seep into the epidural space.

She will then get medicine (either epidural Opens New Window or spinal anesthesia Opens New Window) to numb her belly and legs.

In some situations, such as a prolonged procedure, continuous spinal anesthesia may be used.

It has more risks, yet it takes effect much faster than epidural or spinal anesthesia.

You will be given an epidural or spinal anesthesia. One or two family members are often allowed in surgery with you, and many people will be present in the room providing care for you and your babies.
