TENS Therapy for Pain Management
In TENS therapy for pain management, a small, battery-operated device delivers low-voltage electrical current through the skin via electrodes placed near the source of pain.

What is TENS?

A TENS machine is a battery-operated hand held device about the size of a personal stereo or smaller, connected to stick-on electrode pads which are applied to the lower back.
How does it work?

TENS
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, a device for relieving the pain of labour.

TENS
TENS has been used for pain relief in labour and is said to be effective particularly in early labour.

TENS: A form of pain relief which is self-administered via a control unit and electrodes on the woman's back. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation.

TENS - A method of pain relief that is accomplished by applying very small electrical impulses to nerve endings beneath the skin. The method can be used for laboring women to relieve pain associated with contractions, back labor and other discomforts.

TENS post-natally, so that might be worth looking into.

For pain control I use a TENS unit but may use Acupuncture this time, or maybe even both (my husband asked if I want to deliver the baby while making a batch of cookies . . . heehee).

and the biggest help was a TENS machine. Attached to both forearms and hands it allowed me to fall asleep....wake after an hour or 2....then turn it back on (it was on timer). It was not a cure.....but helped a LOT!! ...

For pain relief in labor, epidurals are most effective, but injections of sterile water near the sacrum works surprisingly well, as do immersion in a warm bath, and a high tech nerve stimulator called TENS.
