I would recommend leaving the top sheet at the store unless it comes as a set. Your baby only needs light blankets in the beginning and it is best if they are cotton. They also don't need more covers or warmth than we do.
These can be found in most baby stores and make cleaning up accidents easier since all you have to do is change the top sheet of the crib.
Changing gear - you might want a changing mat or baby dresser with a changing top.
Muslin cloths or other large, soft washable dribble cloths are useful for wiping, drying or as a top sheet in the pram or crib.
