Ureaplasma (similar to Mycoplasma) -- An infection that may cause the formation of sperm antibodies and an inflammation of the uterine lining, either of which may interfere with implantation of the embryo.

 


Ureaplasma - An infection that can cause sperm antibodies to form or cuase inflammation of the uterine lining. Either condition may interfere with implantation of the embryo, which would result in the loss of an early pregnancy.

It can also be used to treat ureaplasma or mycoplasma infections.

Cervical Cultures: The process of obtaining samples (of secretions) from the cervix and culturing them on special media for different types of infectious organisms such as Chlamydia, Gonococcus and Ureaplasma.

Venereal Disease -- Any infection that can be sexually transmitted, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, ureaplasma, and syphilis. Many of these diseases will interfere with fertility and some will cause severe illness. See also PID.

The process of obtaining samples (of secretions) from the cervix and culturing them on special media to detect the presence of infectious organisms such as chlamydia, gonococcus and ureaplasma.

These include: Streptococcus B, Enterococcus, Herpes Type I and II, Anaerobic bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenza, Streptococcus millerii, E. coli, Klebsiella, Garnerella, Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Candida.
