Urine-Based Pregnancy Tests
Today, many women use a urine test, or home pregnancy test (HPT), to find out if they are pregnant. A home pregnancy test:

Urine
You will be asked to give a sample of urine at your check-ups. This is to check for infection (usually a sample is sent away at your first appointment) and for protein, which can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

Urine test: With this method, urine has to come into contact with a special stick. You either urinate directly onto the stick or dip it in a cup of your urine. After a few minutes, an indicator on the stick will register whether you're pregnant.
