Avoid inserting anything, such as tampons or vaginal douches, into the vagina.
Be close to a hospital that can provide emergency care for both you and a sick or premature infant.

Normal hygiene and, if necessary, the use of ‘panty liners' should keep you feeling fresh. Avoid vaginal douches and scented hygiene wipes - both may cause irritation and may upset the delicate acid/alkali balance of the vagina.

Before 28 weeks, ask your health professional about any possible risks.
