Pregnancy & Parenting Yolk SacZona Pellucida

ZIFT (zygote intrafallopian transfer): An ART procedure in which eggs are collected from a woman's ovary and fertilized outside her body.

ZIFT success versus the risk of multiple pregnancy
In order for a woman over age 35 to maximize her chances of conceiving with her own eggs and carrying a healthy pregnancy, she must have more embryos transferred than a younger woman would.

ZIFT is an assisted reproductive procedure where a fertilized embryo is transferred into the fallopian tube (instead of the uterus as in other procedures).

ZIFT (Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer)

ZIFT - An ART procedure in which eggs are retrieved from the ovaries of a woman and in vitro fertilization is used to produce fertilization.

ZIFT procedures comprise a mere 1 percent of all ART cases in the United States [source: ASRM]. Fertilization takes place in the laboratory, and the embryo is transferred to the fallopian tube (not the uterus) using laparoscopy.

ZIFT-Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer.
In this technique, a fertilized egg via the IVF technique is injected into the fallopian tube, as in GIFT. Conception takes place in the lab.

In ZIFT (zygote intrafallopian transfer), the eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilized in the laboratory, and then placed back in the fallopian tubes where they can travel to the uterus and implant on their own.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): Several procedures employed to bring about conception without sexual intercourse, including IUI, GIFT and ZIFT. Asthenozoospermia: Low sperm motility.

GIFT and ZIFT: GIFT and ZIFT were developed to assist fertilization but use a woman's fallopian tubes as a natural incubator. They are generally used when a couple's religious beliefs forbid in vitro fertilization.

Treatment options that are not as common include gamete or zygote intrafallopian transfer (GIFT or ZIFT). GIFT is the transfer of eggs and sperm into a fallopian tube through a small abdominal incision.

ZIFT is different in that it involves placing an embryo in the end of the tube instead of the gametes (sperm and egg). GIFT is more expensive than IVF because it involves laparoscopic surgery and many studies show lower success rates compared to IVF.

zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) - involves fertilizing a woman's eggs in the laboratory and then using a laparoscope to guide the transfer of the fertilized eggs (zygotes) into her fallopian tubes.

What is zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT)? - Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) is technique in which a woman's egg is fertilized outside the body, then implanted in one of her fallopian tubes.

These can include fertility drugs like clomid, artificial insemination methods like IVF, ICSI, PGD, GIFT, ZIFT, and IUI, and sperm, embryo or egg donation.

ZYGOTE INTRAFALLOPIAN TRANSFER (ZIFT)- The ovum is fertilized in vitro and transferred to the fallopian tube before it divides. This can be done only in women with at least one normal tube.
