Assignment for security
A form of loan collateral similar to a guarantee but not expressly regulated by law. Loans can be secured by assigning claims and other rights of the borrower to the lending bank.

The holder of a long American-style option contract can exercise the option at any time until the option expires.

Assignment
The notification to the seller of an option by the clearing corporation that the buyer of the option is enforcing the terms of the option's contract.
