Bollinger Band
Sometimes stock prices appear to remain in a range for extended periods of time. A good way to describe this situation is to define a moving range around the stock prices.

The currency band is a system of exchange rates by which a floating currency is backed by hard money.

The Bollinger Band Width indicator is the distance between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands. It is a measure of volatility. The Band Width value is higher when volatility is high and lower when volatility is low.

The Bollinger Band Width indicator charts the width of the Bollinger Bands. When the Bollinger Band Width increases in value, it indicates that the volatility of the underlying stock has also increased.

An upper band (SMA plus 2 standard deviations. Close price or the average of High, Low and Close are usually used to calculate the SMA. Standard Deviation is a statistical term that provides a good indication of volatility.

When price is trading near the upper or lower Bollinger band line, there is a possibility of trend reversal. This is not always the case and other methods of confirming the trend should be in use.

The DC is displayed as a low and high band - instrument prices tend to stay within the bands. However, if an instrument moves towards the upper band this signals increased probability that the price will decrease down to the moving average.
