The order in which underwriters' names appear in a securities offering. The names are generally listed in the order of importance in a particular offering.

 


Bracketing
A trading range market or a price region that is non-trending.

The patterns one finds in a low volatility, bracketing market are different from those observed in a trending, volatile environment.

For ease of administration and determination of the tax due, bracketing systems have been adopted by nearly all states. The rates in use in the mid-1970s varied from 2 percent to a high of 7 percent; 4 percent was the most common rate.

The floor brokers and floor traders are required to write the time bracket letter or symbol on an executed order ticket. This bracketing system therefore helps to pinpoint within a fifteen-minute range the time that a trade took place.
