UPSIDE-DOWNSIDE VOLUME

Upside/Downside Volume (U/DV)
The Upside/Downside Ratio is a type of volume mearsurement used in the analysis of markets.

The upside/downside volume line is tracked by recording a running total of the difference between the daily volume in advancing and declining issues. In most cases, the Upside/Downside Volume Line moves up and down with the share price.

The decline from 37 1/2 back to 30 was sharp, but downside volume did not expand materially. There were two days when volume on a decline exceeded the 60-day SMA and Chaikin Money Flow dipped near -10% twice.

Downside Volume: A daily, weekly or monthly summary of the volume transacted in all stocks which fell in the period. More loosely, down volume alludes to heavy volume during a period of generally declining prices.
