Equivalent taxable yield The return that must be achieved on an investment so that after taxes are paid, the remaining amount equals the return on a tax-exempt investment. Used to compare taxable and tax-free investments.

The yield that must be offered on a taxable bond issue to give the same after-tax yield as a tax-exempt issue.
