Euro Depositary Receipt (EDR)
As with other depositary receipts, the EDR is a certificate representing ownership of the issuer's underlying shares. The EDR is denominated and quoted in euros.

London Interbank Offer Rate denominated in euros. This is the interest rate that banks offer each other for large short-term loans in euros.

Originally, the term for a deposit made outside one's home country but denominated in the home country currency. This terminology is confusing now since the new European Currency unit, also called the Euro, was introduced on January 1, 1999.

The euro rose against the dollar and yen Wednesday in Asia as China's unexpected interest rate hike failed to suppress Shanghai share prices, somewhat easing concerns over its impact on China's growth and the outlook for the global economy.

The euro is reversing course after a thrust from a triangle. The decline from 1.4283 might not be in five waves, but it has the characteristics of an impulsive wave. A correction of the rally from August should reach the 1.3636-1.

The euro-zone debt crisis has faded from headlines. The U.S. economic recovery has surprised with its strength. The S&P 500 has gained 26% in just four months. But the rally is potentially losing momentum.

The primary exceptions to this rule are the British Pound, the Euro, and the Australian Dollar (ex., EUR/USD). Basis Point difference over or under a designated future at which a cash commodity of a certain description is sold or quoted.

This is usually the Euro and the U.S Dollar. If a trader thinks that the Euro will rise in value against the dollar in the future, they will buy Euros with US Dollars.

For example, France uses the euro (EUR), and suppose the EUR stated as a unit, were worth half of the U.S. Dollar (USD). In the U.S., a direct quote for France would be 0.5 dollars per 1 euro.

The relation of the dollar to the euro will also be a factor in the investor's returns. When the dollar is strong, the initial investment may be cheaper, but interest payments made in euros will be worth less.
