Ex-Dividend
'Ex' means 'without', 'Ex-Dividend' means 'without dividend'. When buying a stock on or after the Ex-Dividend day the buyer will purchase the stock without getting the dividend.

Ex-dividend Date -
The ex-dividend date is when all transactions that have been completed to receive a dividend. If an investor does not own the stock before the ex-dividend date, they will be ineligible for the dividend.

Ex-Dividend
A synonym for "without dividend." The buyer of a stock selling ex-dividend does not receive the recently declared dividend.

Ex-dividend/distribution date. The date that the buyer of a stock is not entitled to the upcoming declared dividend/distribution, because the buyer will not be a holder of record. The ex-d date is two clearing days before the record date.

The board also announces the Ex-Dividend Date, which is a very important date to know.
