Federal Land Bank

Each district has a Federal Land Bank, a Federal Intermediate Credit Bank, and a Bank for Cooperatives to carry out policies of the system.

A land bank is a bank that issues long-term loans on real estate in return for mortgages. This term could also apply to the former Federal Land Bank Association in the U.S.

Examples of instrumentalities include those issued by the Student Loan Marketing Association, Federal Intermediate Credit and Federal Land Banks. Typically, an instrumentality is referred to by the more general term of "agency.
