Median Market Cap - Median Market Cap is funds that suddenly decide to change their investing style obviously play havoc with an investor's attempt to diversify a portfolio.

Median market cap
The midpoint of market capitalization (market price multiplied by the number of shares outstanding) of the stocks in a portfolio. Half the stocks in the portfolio will have higher market capitalizations; half will have lower.

The style categorization is either Value, Blend, or Growth and the size divisions reflect the median market capitalization of the companies held in the fund, which are categorized as either Small, Medium, or Large.

Fund that invests primarily in equity securities issued by companies with very small market capitalizations; they typically have median market caps of approximately $250 million or less.

Median market capitalization Market value (capitalization) of the middle stock in a portfolio of stocks if sorted by capitalization. Mid cap Refers to companies with a market capitalization between $1 billion and $5 billion.
