Noise
Random variations in price and volume. These can distract a trader from the real trend. Noise becomes more noticeable when looking at shorter time frames.

More market noise means it takes longer for a trader to identify a trend in a market, said Kaufman. He said the S&P 500 futures are very "noisy," and therefore need a longer time for a trend to develop.

Answer: Market noise is the seemingly mindless back and forth movement on the smaller time frames. A trader's definition of market noise is usually relative to the time frames that they are trading.
