A market average of 30 widely held NYSE-listed stocks. Average is not weighted for capitalisation of the stocks. It is computed by taking the sum of the prices of the 30 stocks & dividing by an adjusted denominator.
Consolidated tape - The ticker tape reporting transactions in NYSE-listed securities that take place on the NYSE or any of the participating regional stock exchanges and other markets.
Network A covers the NYSE-listed securities and is used to identify the originating market. Network B does the same for AMEX-listed securities and also reports on securities listed on regional stock exchanges. See: tape.
