PER CAPITA DEBT - The amount of an issuer's debt outstanding divided by the population residing within the issuer's jurisdiction.

 


The PER isn't the best valuation metric to use because it uses earnings, an accountants measure of profit based on assumptions and accounting policies.

EARNINGS PER SHARE (EPS)
Earnings per share (EPS) is calculated by dividing a company's total earnings by the number of outstanding shares.

EARNINGS PER SHARE (EPS). A company's net income, generally divided by the number of its common shares outstanding and adjusted for certain dilutive securities such as stock options, warrants, and convertible debt.

EARNINGS PER SHARE (EPS)
EPS, as it is called, is a company's profit divided by its number of shares. If a company earned $2 million in one year had 2 million shares of stock outstanding, its EPS would be $1 per share.

EARNINGS PER SHARE (EPS): Also referred to as Primary Earnings Per Share. Calculated by taking the company's net income for the past 12 months and dividing that by the number of common shares outstanding, as reported by a company.

Selling a rising price or buying a falling price. For example, a trader fading an up opening would be short.

Price Earnings Ratio (PER) or P/E multiple
A valuation ratio of a company's current share price divided by its Earnings Per Share (EPS).

Example:

The earnings yield is also the cost to a publicly traded company of raising expansion capital through the issuance of stock. Its computed as (EARNINGS PER SHARE/MARKET PRICE PER SHARE)
