The Performance indicator is a normalized chart showing a security's price performance as a percentage (i.e. the Performance indicator displays the percentage that the security has increased since the first period).

Performance fees (or "incentive fees") are one of the defining characteristics of hedge funds. The manager's performance fee is calculated as a percentage of the fund's profits, usually counting both realized and unrealized profits.

Performance Bond - Funds that must be deposited by a customer with a broker, by a broker with a clearing member or by a clearing member, with the clearinghouse to initiate or maintain a market position.

Performance bond call - A demand for additional funds to bring the customer's account back up to the initial performance bond level whenever adverse price movement has caused the account to go below the maintenance.

Performance
The performance section usually gives you information on how the mutual fund has performed. There is often a table that gives you the fund's performance over the last year, three years, five years, and sometimes ten years.

PERFORMANCE A measure of how well a fund is doing. Two commonly used mutual fund performance measures are yield (which measures dividends) and total return (which measures dividends plus changes in net asset value) over a specified period of time.

Performance bond
Margins in futures trading are known as performance bonds. Both the initial and minimum maintenance requirements are set by the commodity exchanges on which the contracts trade.

Performance is always an issue for any investor. Formerly great funds, which I've used myself during the 90s, are the junkyard dogs of this century. Janus Fund comes to mind and is one of many that buy-and-hold investors got stuck with.

Performance index
In contrast to a price index, the performance index is adjusted for dividends and changes in capital or interest payments. Deutsche Börse calculates the important stock and bond indices as both price and performance indices.

Performance over time, rated on a scale of 1-10. 1 indicates that a mutual fund's return was in the top 10 % of funds being compared, while 3 means the return was in the top 30 %.

Performance Fund
A mutual fund whose goal is to achieve maximum growth of capital--sometimes called "aggressive growth funds". The fund invests in companies that are in high growth cycles.

The performance of the security should also influence the determination of what type of best bid will be extended. There is no doubt that the seller will present the historical performance of the security in the best light possible.

Key Performance Indicators - KPI
A set of quantifiable measures that a company or industry uses to gauge or compare performance in terms of meeting their strategic and operational goals.

Past performance or the last reported earnings are generally considered a good indicator of future performance. The issuance of shares (common or preferred) is typically the primary source of capital for corporations.

Past performance is a key indicator as to how a fund family may perform, but a fund's performance may not repeat itself again. Other factors such as portfolio management may be altered for better or worse.

Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. So don't be dazzled by last year's high returns. But past performance can help you assess a fund's volatility over time.

Market Performance:
The Dow made it nine out of ten today (up-sessions, that is) but missed a new 18-month high by a few ticks.

PERQS - Performance Equity-Linked Redemption Quarterly Pay Securities, a service mark of Morgan Stanley. PERQs are intermediate equity-linked debt instruments representing either senior or subordinated debt of the issuer.

Economic performance and indicators are shown on the graphs to provide a longer view of economic changes and a better perception of the economic trends that ultimately lead equity prices.

Relative Performance : Movement of a stock price over a period compared to a market index (like the KSE 100).

Relative Performance A comparison between a share and its peers or underlying market made to determine over / under performance. Not be confused with RSI (see below).

Dividend performance share - Dividends paid for the past 12 months divided by the number of common shares outstanding, as reported by a company.

Margin is a performance bond that insures against trading losses. Margin requirements in the FX marketplace allow you to hold positions much larger than the asset value of your account.
