In the hopes of keeping things as simple as possible, it may be helpful to understand exactly what our intentions are, when maneuvering through one market or another.

Pivot Points In a few words, pivot point is a level in which the sentiment of traders and investors changes from bull to bear or vice versa.

Pivot points are calculated from previous-period prices, and are used by some traders as a technique to determine resistance and support levels that may signal trade entry/exit points.

Using Pivot Points to Determine Market Sentiment
There is one other way to incorporate pivot points into your trading strategy, and that's to use it to gauge market sentiment.

To define, pivot points determine the areas where the direction of the price action can change. They are useful for different types of traders. Short term traders use pivot points to profit from small changes in price.

Pivot points can be used in two ways:
The first way is for determining overall market trend: if the pivot point price is broken in an upward movement, then the market is bullish, and vice versa.

Pivot points have traditionally been used both when trading a range, or looking for a breakout. When used for range trading, pivot points identify levels where reversals will occur.

Pivot Points - A technical indicator which is used to predict a change in resistance or support levels for an asset.
Prime Rate - A rate that banks usually charge their most credit-worthy customers.
