Bond points
Bonds trade at a discount or premium to the actual face value of the bond for a variety of reasons (prevailing interest rates, riskiness of the issuer etc). Points are a way of describing the size of this discount / premium e.g.

 


Basis points are a high precision way to present numbers that are relative to a price. Some software requires the user to enter a number of basis points before performing a calculation.

Forward Points
The interest rate differential between two currencies expressed in exchange rate points.

They also clearly demonstrate where a stop loss points should be placed. Having this knowledge allows an investor to take advantage of any trading market.

Points
An amount paid to a mortgage lender, at the time of closing, above and beyond the regular interest payments. Each point equals 1% of the mortgage face amount.

Points B, D - local minima.
This particular pattern is seen as a reversal, in which a break of the neckline is expected and the move should be in the amount equivalent from head to neckline.

Points
Points apply to security prices. In the case of shares, one point indicates $1.00 per share. For bonds and debentures, one point means 1% of par value. Par value is almost universally 100 for bonds.

Points: An amount equal to one percent of the principal amount of a note.

Points quote
An abbreviated form of the outright quote used by traders in the interbank market.

The points where these two lines cross are:
Golden Cross (GC): TRIX breaks through signal line in an upward movement. Dead Cross (DC): TRIX breaks through signal line in a downward movement. Bounce (B): The line changes direction from down to up.

The points where the Arcs cross the price data will vary depending on the scaling, because the Arcs are drawn so they always appear circular relative to the computer screen.

The points scored on each of the above areas are aggregated and the Fiduciary Grade is assigned based on the total: A=9-10, B=7-8.5, C=5-6.5, D=3-4.5, F=2.5 or less.

Pivot Points - A technical indicator which is used to predict a change in resistance or support levels for an asset.
Prime Rate - A rate that banks usually charge their most credit-worthy customers.

Pivot Points
Those of you who have been trading for a while will be familiar with Pivot Points. During this lesson I want to go over how to find a Pivot Point and also a slightly different method of using them.

These points define the price before the price move ("A"), at the end of the price move ("B"), and at the retraced price ("C"). In this example, prices have retraced 61.5% of the original price move.

Basis points or pips
A foreign exchange rate usually consists of an integer part and 4 decimal points (or 2 decimal points when expressed per 100 units like e.g. dollar/yen). Thus the decimals are expressed either at 10th thousands or hundreds.

Basis Points
One basis point equals 0.01% yield of a bond or note and therefore 100 basis points equals 1% of yield.

Pivot Points
The Pivot Point is defined as the average of the high, low and settlement price of the previous day. There are also two sets of resistance/support levels.

Basis points: 0.01% in yield. Increasing from 5.00% to 5.05%, the yield increases by five basis points.
Bearer: Certificates (usually bonds) that are not registered in the holder's name, but are payable to the presenting party when due.

Between points "A" and "B", the S&P 500 index moved up steadily. This tells us that during this time, buying pressure generally exceeded selling pressure.

Forward points:
The points adjustment to the spot rate, which must be made to fix a price for future delivery of a currency.

Further points
Trend reversals offer some of the most important opportunities for entering a market with a good profit potential.

Those locations designated by commodity exchanges where stocks of a commodity represented by a futures contract may be delivered in fulfillment of the contract.

A few key points we want to mention regarding trading ranges. If a stock moves out of its support and resistance boundaries with heavy volume, you are possibly looking at a shift in the character of the stock.

Break-even points serve as important markers of indicators of the financial success or failure of any given venture.

Both these points will be located on the far left of the formation. Next, locate the "apex" of the triangle (the point where the trendlines converge).

If the plot points clearly defines a straight line, the model will have an R-squared value of close to 1.0, meaning that fluctuations in the market explain close to 100% of the relative volatility in the asset.

Entitlement Points - Used to determine an account's position in the queue which allocates loan opportunities.

Complex pivot points sometimes occur, where it may take several days to form a pivot.
Remember:
The signals are most reliable if they occur after a strong trend. If the trend is weak, so is the signal.

Divergences at points "A" and "B" provided leading indications of the reversals that followed.

There are a few points of agreement, however. Investors should ensure that the pattern is in fact comprised of two distinct bottoms and that they should appear at or near the same price level.

10% decline (950 points for 3Q02)
The first circuit breaker is triggered if the DJIA declines by approximately 10%. The restrictions that are put into place -- if any -- depend on the time of day when the circuit breaker is triggered.

Paper Trading Viewpoints
Consider: simulator fill prices are not real and won't be attainable with real money.

Track the Pivot Points: Focus your attention on prior highs and lows, whether they're two days old or printed in the last decade. Traders use these focal points to make the majority of their entry and exit decisions.

Interest-Rate Swap Points - The interest rate can be determined through the difference in the bid and offer price of an exchange rate.

Connecting only two points on the chart can draw a tentative natural trend line.
