True Range Indicator
True Range was introduced by J. Welles Wilder in his book New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems. It measures the daily range plus any gap from the closing price of the preceding day.

The Range Indicator is drawn from the idea that changes in the average day's intraday range (high to low) as compared to the average day's interday range (close to close) will either signal a start of a new trend or the end of an existing trend.

Average True Range indicator is a volatility indicator. When the average true range indicator is showing lower readings for any currency pair that means there is low volatility for that currency pair.

The True Range indicator is the greatest of the following:
The distance from today's high to today's low.
The distance from yesterday's close to today's high.

The True Range indicator is represented in RTL using the token TR. This token also represents the Average True Range if a smoothing period is specified.

The True Range indicator is the greatest of the following:
-current high less the current low.
-the absolute value of the current high less the previous close.
-the absolute value of the current low less the previous close.

Average True Range Indicator
The average true range indicator (ATR) was first introduced by J. Wells Wilder in his book New Concepts For Technical Trading Systems. The indicator measures volatility in the market.

The Williams Percent Range indicator identifies where the closing price is relative to the total price range of n periods. It is an oscillator that is similar to the stochastic oscillators, but is plotted upside-down in the negative range.

If we had entered a position here, it would need to be confirmed by some kind of crossover, and/or extreme value on a range indicator, such as the RSI, or Stochastics.

Forex Traders use Average True Range indicator to determine the best position for their trading Stop orders - such stops that with a help of ATR would correspond to the most actual market volatility.

Historic levels can cause some strange indicator behavior. If an uptrending indicator flattens out mysteriously, widen the timeframe on your chart to see whether the price is near a historical level. The market will test historical levels.
