But to play Devil's advocate for a minute, a 50% retention rate amongst those trying the service (in new cars) is good but it's not out of this world, fantastic. Essentially, that means half of the people who try the service don't see any value in it.

This is the opposite of the payout ratio, which measures the amount of dividends that are paid out as a percentage of earnings. Also known as "retention rate", "retention ratio" or the "earnings retention ratio".

Indicates the percentage of a company's net profits that are not paid out in dividends, but rather retained by the company. It is equal to 1 minus the dividend payout ratio. Also called the retention rate.
